Our diamond semi-mount collection includes prong, bezel, channel, pave, and invisible set mounts. Each of these showcases diamonds in their own way, so it's important to know the differences between them. Prong set diamonds are common, featuring metal prongs bent over the surface of a diamond. Bezel sets are incredible secure mounts that encase diamonds with a metal rim atop the stones. Diamonds are seated in a literal channel in the metal in our channel set mounts, giving dimension to the ring. French for 'cobblestone,' our pave mounts are designed by inserting small pieces of metal between each diamond to create the path-like appearance. Invisible mounts do a great job of hiding all metal framework beneath the ring, so the diamonds appear unified.
Semi-mounts are also categorized by diamond cut, meaning whichever type a ring has been designed with, that is what the ring will be called. For example, halo rings that mostly utilize round cut diamonds will be called just that–round diamond semi-mounts. Round cut diamonds are effectively used as side and center stones. Princess cut stones are square edged with sharp corners and have been a favorite in the jewelry world for years. Baguette diamonds are the perfect side stone, easily adding luster and radiance to any center diamond.
The distinction between diamond cut and setting type is entirely based on personal preference. This simply boils down to which you have a stronger preference for.
